Getting to know your
device
Unlocking your phone
1. Press the Power/Lock key on the side of
the phone and swipe the screen.

Inserting SIM card
1. Hold the phone securely.
2. Use the tool that came with your
phone to open the SIM/microSD
card tray.
3. Carefully place the SIM card into the
tray with the carrier logo facing up.
4. Insert the optional microSD
card
(not included) with the gold-colored
contacts facing down.
5. Gently push the tray into the slot.
6. Charge your phone.
Touch screen
Navigating your phone
Use your ngertip to lightly touch the
screen.
Use quick icks of your nger on the
touchscreen to swipe up, down, left,
and right.
To view recent apps tap the Recent
key.
To return to the previous screen, tap
the Back key.
Press the Home key at any time to
return to the main home screen.
Double press the Home key to
activate the camera.
Press and hold the Home key to launch
Google Now.
Tap Apps to access applications.
Notication panel
The Notication panel
provides quick access
to alerts including new
messages, emails and
software updates.
Touch the Notication
bar and drag your
nger down to see the
Notication panel.
Swipe right to clear
individual notications or
tap CLEAR to clear all.
Personalize
1. Tap and hold a blank space on one of
the home screens and choose:
Wallpapers allows
you to assign
wallpaper for the
Home screen, and
Lock screen.
Widgets allows you
to quickly access the
Widget tab where you
can drag and drop a
widget on a selected
screen.
Themes allows you
to set the the theme
for your device.
Screen grid allows you to change the
number of icons that can be placed on
a Home screen.
2. Select an option and follow
instructions.
Organizing home screens
To move a widget, shortcut or folder,
touch, hold and drag it to a new
location. To delete it, touch, hold and
drag it to the trash bin .
• To add a home screen, place two
ngers on the screen and pinch them
together to enable edit mode.
Scroll to the right (a screen displays
with a plus sign), and tap . To remove,
tap and hold the screen thumbnail
and drag it to the trash bin .
Smart Switch
Copy content from your old phone
Transfer contacts, photos and other
content from your old phone using
Smart Switch.
1. Select Smart Switch during setup,
or access it from Apps > Settings >
Backup and reset > Open Smart
Switch.
2. Follow the instructions and select the
content to transfer.

to use the USB connector to transfer
content faster.

messaging
Send a text message
1. From the home
screen, tap
Messages , then
tap New message
.
2. Enter a phone
number or contact
name in the Enter
recipients eld, or
tap to select
contacts from your
address book.
3. Tap the Enter
message eld and
enter your text.
4. Tap to send message.
Send a picture message
1. Follow steps 1-3
above.
2. Tap .
3. Tap Gallery and
select a desired
image.
4. Tap to send
message.
Email
Email setup
1. From the home
screen, tap Email .
2. Enter email address
and password and
then tap SIGN IN.
Note: To set up your
corporate email,
contact your IT
administrator.
Create and send an
email message
1. From the home
screen, tap Email .
2. To compose a new
message, tap .
3. Tap the To eld
and enter an email
address or name.
4. Enter a subject.
5. Tap ATTACH, to
attach les and then
follow instructions.
6. Tap SEND to
send message.

Access Google Play
1. From the home
screen, tap Play Store
.
2. Use your existing
Google
account or
create one following
the steps on the
screen.
Navigate Google
Play
From Play Store, you
have multiple ways to
search for apps, games
and more.
1. Tap a category to
browse popular
APPS & GAMES or
ENTERTAINMENT.
2. Tap Search to
search the Play Store
for a specic item.
3. To install, tap the
app and follow
instructions. Once
installed, you will see
a notication in the
Notications panel.
Open the app from
this notication or by
locating the app in the App tray .
Note: A Google Checkout payment
method is required to purchase apps.
Camera and video
1. From the Home screen, tap Camera
.
Send a Picture
1. After taking the picture, tap the
Gallery in the corner of the screen,
then tap Share at the bottom of the
screen.
2. Tap desired sharing option.
