Gateway 700 Series Variable Speed Fan and
Double Layer Recordable DVD Drive
Variable Speed Fan
Your Gateway 700 series desktop computer has a built-in variable speed fan. This fan runs
at high speed when your computer is first turned on, and may run at high speed when
it is running several programs at one time or when you are playing a graphics intensive
game. The fan runs at normal speed at other times. You may notice an increase in the fan
noise when the fan is running at high speed and a decrease in the fan noise when it
switches to normal speed.
Double Layer Recordable DVD Drive
Your Gateway 700 series desktop computer contains a double layer recordable DVD drive.
This drive can use the following blank CDs or DVDs:

Important To use the double layer capability of the double layer recordable DVD
drive, the blank DVDs you purchase must state Double Layer,
Dual Layer, or DL. Using other types of blank media will result in less
capacity, as shown above.
