Introduction
5-Port 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet Switch
This user’s guide tells you how to install your 5-Port 1000BASE-T Gigabit
Ethernet Switch, how to connect it to your Gigabit Ethernet network.
The 5-Port 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet Switch was designed for easy installa-
tion and high performance in an environment where traffic on the network and the
number of users increase continuously.
Before you begin, please verify that you have all the parts listed in the Package
Contents.

Connecting the Switch
The 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports of 10/100/1000Mbps Auto-Negotiation ports of the
switch support automatic MDI/MDIX crossover detection, which allows for true
“plug-and- play” capability. With the Auto-MDI function, you can simply plug in an
Ethernet cable into the switch without worrying about if the other end of the cable
is connected to a network adapter or to another switch or hub.
1) The 5-port switch has built-in LED indicators:
Power LED
Solid Green – Power On
Speed LED (Top)
Solid Green – 1000 Mbps
Solid Amber – 100 Mbps
Off – 10 Mbps
Link/Act LED (Bottom)
Solid Green – Link
Blinking Green – Activity
2) Cable Diagnostic Operation indications (during the switch booting up):
Open, Short, or Improper Termination
Speed LED: Amber
Link/Act LED: Off
Cable connection good
Speed LED: Green
Link/Act LED: Off
Connect the AGIGA5SW-B to an end note which includes PCs outfitted with a 10,
100, or 1000 Mbps RJ-45 Ethernet Network Interface Card (NIC) and most routers.
An end node can be connected to the Switch via a twisted-pair Category 3, 4, 5, or
5e UTP/STP cable. The end node can be connected to any of the ports of the
Switch.
