ATTENTION: Please read before unpacking your Dell™ PowerVault™
ML6000
About Cautions:
CAUTION: Indicates a potential for property damage, personal injury, or death.
For the latest product update, refer to
http://support.dell.com
.
CAUTION: Note the following items before unpacking your ML6000 tape library.
Due to the weight of the ML6000, at least two people are required to lift the ML6000.
Remove any power supplies. The library can have a maximum of six power supplies. Rack-mount the library
before re-installing the power supplies.
Remove any tape drives. The library can have a maximum of ten drives. Rack-mount the library before re-
installing the tape drives.
Prior to loading media into the ML6000, install the tape blockers in the bottom row of the lowest module
in the library configuration. The picker cannot access the slots in the bottom two rows of the lowest module
in any library configuration, and the tape blockers prevent you from loading tape cartridges into these two
rows. For complete installation instructions, including installation of the tape blockers, see the "Installing,
Removing, and Replacing" section in the
User's Guide
on the
Documentation CD
.
Prior to loading media into the ML6000, be sure that all tape cartridges have barcode labels.
Prior to powering on your library, see the information on module terminator and cable installation in the
Getting Started Guide
or in the "Installing, Removing, and Replacing" section in the
User's Guide
on the
Documentation CD
.
Unpacking Your Library:
CAUTION: Remove all internal packaging material from the library prior to powering on the library or installing it in a
rack.
You can remove the interior packaging material through the access door or, if you remove the module cover,
through the top of the module. To remove the top cover of the module, remove the four Phillips screws
holding the cover in place.
Remove all internal packaging.
Carefully lift out the white foam. Be careful not to damage the orange flex strip.
Carefully remove the cardboard.
Remove the strap holding the robot in place. Release the velcro and unhook each end of the strap to
allow for picker movement.
If you removed the top module cover, replace it and the four Phillips screws.
Remove the yellow strip in the I/E station.
