Precautions
Location
Using the unit in the following locations can result in a
malfunction.
• In direct sunlight
• Locations of extreme temperature or humidity
• Excessively dusty or dirty locations
• Locations of excessive vibration
• Close to magnetic fields
Power supply
Please connect the designated AC adaptor to an AC outlet
of the correct voltage. Do not connect it to an AC outlet of
voltage other than that for which your unit is intended.
Interference with other electrical devices
This product contains a microcomputer. Radios and
televisions placed nearby may experience reception
interference. Operate this unit at a suitable distance from
radios and televisions.
Handling
To avoid breakage, do not apply excessive force to the
switches or controls.
Care
If the exterior becomes dirty, wipe it with a clean, dry cloth.
Do not use liquid cleaners such as benzene or thinner, or
cleaning compounds or flammable polishes.
Keep this manual
After reading this manual, please keep it for later reference.
Keeping foreign matter out of your equipment
Never set any container with liquid in it near this
equipment. If liquid gets into the equipment, it could cause
a breakdown, fire, or electrical shock.
Be careful not to let metal objects get into the equipment.
If something does slip into the equipment, unplug the AC
adaptor from the wall outlet. Then contact your nearest
Korg dealer or the store where the equipment was
purchased.

Preparations for tuning
1. Install a battery as explained in "Replacing the battery." If you use an
AC adapter (
: sold separately), connect it to 4 (DC 9V).
2. Turn on the power switch.
3. Connect the output of your instrument to jack 6 (INPUT). If you are
tuning an acoustic instrument, place the built-in microphone near the
instrument or plug in a contact microphone to the input jack.
If a plug is connected to the INPUT jack, the internal mic will not function.
The audio signal that is connected to the input jack will be sent directly to
the Bypass/Sound Out jack.
When not using the tuner, be sure to disconnect cables for longer battery
life.
Muting the sound of the connected
guitar or bass etc.
Connect a latching type footswitch to the Mute Switch Jack in
order to mute the output for silent on stage tuning. To mute
without a footswitch, use the
3 (MUTE) switch.
For connection to this jack, please use a latch-type foot switch
(i.e., where the "on" or "off" status is held between presses).
Replacing the battery
When replacing the battery, turn off the power switch.
The life of accessory battery might be short since it is included
for function checking only
If the batteries run down during use, the note name LED display
will be interrupted by a message of "b," "a," "t," "t." The unit
can still be used for a time, but accurate tuning will not be
possible. You should install a new battery as soon as possible.
1. Slide the lid of the battery compartment (located on the
bottom of the DT-7) in the direction of the arrow, and lift the
lid up to open the compartment.
2. Install the new battery, making sure that the polarity is
correct.
3. Close the lid of the battery case.

In the following cases, the DT-7 will be reset to the default
settings (calibration: A=440 Hz, Reference tone: A4)
• When you turn off the power switch.
• If the battery runs down
• If the battery is removed while the AC adapter is not connected
• If the AC adapter is unplugged while still connected to the DT-7

Tuning a guitar or bass etc. (Normal tuning)
1. Set the function select switch to CHROMATIC.
2.
Tune your instrument so that the center LED lights. If the pitch is flat, an
LED at the left will light. If the pitch is sharp, an LED at the right will
light. (The note name LED will indicate the note name.)
Using Buzz Feiten tuning
Use this mode only if you have a guitar that is designed with the Buzz
Feiten Tuning System.
The Buzz Feiten Tuning System (BFTS ) adds slight adjustments to the
pitch (similarly to "stretched tuning" on a piano) to make your playing
sound its best from low through high ranges, regardless of chords or keys.
When using Buzz Feiten tuning, tune to the string attack, not the decay.
1. Set the function select switch to BFTF.
2. As appropriate for your type of guitar, press switch
1 ( ) to select
BASS, ACOUSTIC (nylon or steel), or ELECTRIC (the LED in the upper left
will light).
3. Press switch
2 ( ) to select OPEN (open string tuning; the upper left
LED will light), and tune your instrument so that the center LED lights.
At this time, the note name LED will indicate the string number from "1
"to "6 "(or L, 1--4, H for a
BASS).
4. Press switch
2 ( ) to select 12th FRET (tuning with the 12th fret
pressed; the upper left LED will blink), and move the bridge saddle so
that the center LED lights. If one of the "–" LED's light, move the saddle
toward the neck. If one of the "+" LED's light, move the saddle toward
the tailpiece.
5. Press switch
2 ( ) to select OPEN (open string tuning), and tune your
instrument so that the center LED lights.

Changing the calibration setting
1. Set the function select switch to CALIB.
2. To lower the setting, press switch
1 ( ). To raise the setting, press
switch
2 ( ). At this time, the note name LED will indicate the last
digit (8...5, F) of the calibration value in the range of 438 Hz...445 Hz.
When the note name LED indicates "F," the tuner is in flat tuning mode.
Selecting flat tuning mode
1. Set the function select switch to CALIB.
2. Press either switch
1 ( ) or switch 2 ( ) until the note name LED
indicates "F."
3. Set the function select switch to
CHROMATIC or BFTS, and tune your
instrument.
In flat tuning mode, the note name LED will indicate a semitone higher. For
example if you input an A note (actual pitch), the display will indicate
"A#."
The calibration value is 440 Hz only.

(BYPASS/SOUND OUT)
1. Plug jack 5 into an amplifier.
2. Set the function select switch to
SOUND.
3. To lower the reference tone, press switch
1 ( ). To raise it, press
switch
2 ( ). At this time, the reference tone will be displayed in the
note name LED.
The reference tone is normally output as A4.
